It is with much sadness that the committee of Monash Soccer Club must inform of the passing of Life Member and Club Legend George Peel this morning.
Words cannot truly express the impact George had on this club. From leading the club as President and Secretary to his roles as first aid, club referee, maintenance man and procurer of materials from the SEC among some of his many roles. Most of all George was a friend and mentor to all who pulled on the yellow & black.
George was instrumental in forming the club culture of Hard work, Determination and Mateship that we hold so dear.
There was no one who revelled in our wins more (particularly when they were over Newborough) and no one who felt our losses more deeply. But you could always guarantee George would be the first to throw his arm around anybody feeling down and let them know “We’ll fix the bastards next time”
We extend our sincere condolences to Margaret, Jenny, Susan and family.
The world has lost a great man and Monash has lost a legend.
